Careers and Volunteering:
Are you interesting in serving the community? We always welcome applications for volunteer and career members committed to professionalism and service. We have a Junior Firefighter program for ages 14-17, our volunteer program is for ages 18+ that want to provide service and support to the community as a firefighter, driver, or just a support member. Our career staff works hard to provide a strong backbone to the districts operations. Please see our Membership Page for additional information on how to get involved.
Serving the people of the Dark Corner is one of the greatest privileges of my life. Our community is built on hard work, family, and neighbors helping neighbors, and the fire service here is no exception. Whether career or volunteer, every member of the Gowensville Fire District chooses to show up, day or night, to protect the place we all call home.
Our mission is simple: provide reliable, professional all-hazards emergency service for the people who put their trust in us. That means being prepared for far more than “just fighting fire.” We handle wildland incidents, medical emergencies, rescues, hazardous situations, fire prevention, and public education. We work to understand the risks in our community so we can reduce them long before 911 is ever called.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our district. Thank you for supporting your local fire service. And thank you for allowing us the honor of protecting this unique corner of South Carolina.
Respectfully,
Larry Jackson Jr., Fire Chief
